Underground atomic bunker of the Federal state government NRW

The bomb- proof underground atomic bunker was always on standby during the Cold War. Surrounded by 3 meters-thick steel concrete walls, there were 100 rooms, everything necessary to be totally independent of the outside world. These were not only technical facilities such as radio systems and a radio studio, but also workrooms and sleeping quarters.

Food and medication were stored, and in an emergency a crisis squad made up of 200 Federal state government employees were able to work there in complete security for 30 days. The atomic bunker in Kall-Urft, held secret for a long time, was opened up for the public in February 2009.
