Ahr Cycle Path (Ahr-Radweg)

On the former railway line of the Ahrtalbahn and through the smallest and one of the noblest wine regions of Germany you come to the river source beneath a timber frame house in the picturesque town of Blankenheim, up to the border leading to Rhineland-Pfalz near Ahrdorf and further on to the only river mouth under nature conservation, flowing into the Rhine near Sinzig. This 80 km stretch runs through fascinating natural landscapes, past picturesque small towns and cosy villages. The slight inclines and relaxing declines are also attractive. Mayschoß, Rech and Dernau with vineyards and seasonal wine taverns are on the route, in addition to historical Ahrweiler, the “wellness metropolis” Bad Neuenahr and finally the Ahr mouth near Sinzig.

Please note: from Fuchshofen until after Schuld the Ahr Cycle Path runs on the main road for about 5 km. Here it is important to be careful, especially because of the high car and motorcycle volume of traffic at the weekends.

The Ahr Cycle Path can be combined with the Rhine Cycle Path and the Erft Cycle Path to make a 300 km round trip, connecting to the Three Rivers Tour.
