Eifelsteig
Under the motto “where rock faces and water accompany you” the 313 kilometre long hiking route runs in stages from Aachen to Trier. The Eifelsteig portrays itself through varied and close to nature paths, magnificent views and numerous differing landscapes. See the Eifelsteig in four stages. Between Einruhr and Gemünd (21km) hike on rocky paths around the reservoirs, climb up onto the Dreiborn plateau and you will arrive at the former “Ordensburg” Vogelsang. The next stage between Gemünd and the Steinfeld monastery (17, 5 km) offers a variety of forest, valley panoramas and hill paths. From the Steinfeld monastery it continues through valley meadows and wet biotopes with rare plants and colourful butterflies, past Roman relics to Blankenheim (22, 5 km). The trail goes over high ground down into the Urft valley, past the Roman Canal spring catchment and through Nettersheim, a “village adventure in natural countryside”.
The stage from Blankenheim to Mirbach (17, 5 km) leads over the high grounds of Blankenheim down to the Schafbach valley and up again on the high ground around Ripsdorf. Offering great variety, it leads through meadows and forests, over high levels, around the widespread juniper areas, around the Kalvanienberg near Alendorf and down into the Lampen valley with its unique flora.
